During the Covid 19 pandemic, Trio Atomic partnered with the Virginia Wesleyan University concert series to present a live stream concert on December 12, 2020. The group performed in the University’s newly-built Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center. The songs on this album are presented in the same order they were performed on the concert. You can watch the full concert on Trio Atomic’s YouTube Channel.

The cover art for this album was painted by our bassist Will McPeters. We love pairing visual arts with our songs and soundscapes, and there will be more original artwork to accompany our music in the future!

We could not have made this recording without the help of Alex Takasugi, Trey Delpo, and Tucker Barco. Trey manages the theatre space at VWU and was helpful in staging the lights. Tucker designed the lighting and ran the scene changes for the concert. Alex oversaw videography and photography. She has a great eye for capturing musical performance because she's also a musician! Once we started putting everything together, the music with the lighting in the Goode, we only had about two days to make changes and to ensure everything looked and sounded great. There were some challenges; we were not prepared for how much the lighting would affect the video cameras. In fact, we did a test run the night before the concert, we reviewed the video the next morning and realized everything was way too dark. We had to go in that afternoon and readjust all the light settings before we made the recording that evening. But the music came off wonderfully! There are some incredible moments of spontaneity that only seem to happen in single-take live recordings. This performance represents the atmosphere the band creates at our live shows. We hope you enjoy the music!
